On the Road

I finished it!

Me being the spead reader I am finished the every so anticpated book, I wouldn't stop talking about! So my thoughts on it? Defintly not what I expected, though the descriptions were beautiful, the famous charactor Dean, ended up actually annoying me at the end. The whole i'm-so-different-than-the-others idea is just getting annoying. Truth be told I honestly think he was a bit of an attention seeker. Other than it really did open your eyes on other things, made me crave for more adventures and more discoveries. Especially given the timing I read the novel, summer is the ideal moment to break away from everything with a rental, some classic road trip tunes, and your entourage! The premiere for the film at Cannes was the just yesterday (I think, or the day before) and honestly after reading this, I don't know how they managed to make this a film...and don't think I'm gonna risk paying to be dissapointed.

Hey kids, sorry I haven't posted in a few days, I've just been running all over the place trying to to get settled in the new appartment and have just caught my breath! Apart from moving house I haven't been doing much else. Friday night we met up with my step brother and his friends near Place de Clichy and chilled with them, then come saturday morning we got up at 8 am (so painful for a saturday morning) and had to go do the final walk through of the old appartment. When we got back with what was left I swear you could hardly walk through the new place. Saturday night we met up again with my step brother and went out a little with his friends. It was fun but we were so dead we went home in the early hours and slept until dark on sunday. (wasted day, i know). Though one of the highlights of my weekend was finally finding an english copy (not as easy as I thought in Paris) of On the Road by Jack Kerouac. I know totally cliché right? Buy the book and read it just before the film comes out but I promise you this, I've been going on about this for months now and it's all coincidential that I bought it a few weeks before ;)

Ring Ring

Just 3 rings out of my too huge to manage collection of rings!

On the left: my mom found in a flea market...
Middle: This might be one of my favourit rings I own. It was a gift for my 18th birthday from my ex boss at a vintage store I used to work at in Cannes. This woman was an actress in the 60's and 70's and had just tje most amazing pieces in her shop! She was so motivating and encouraging with me so that is why I think this ring has so much sentimental value. It's a topaz stone with silver leaves engraved into the setting. It was love at first sight!
On the right: This ring came from one of my best friends in the whole wide world, I love everything about it. She bought it in a london flea market and it makes me smile each time I look at it :)

I'll post more pictures of the other ones I have, all my rings have sentimental value to me...

Nostalgie

Ok so, I have lived in France since the age of 12, and even though I stay true to being L.A born, I grew into myself with the help of french culture. I guess I owe this to my mom for taking me to the South of France to grow up. I'm not going to brag because it isn't in my nature, but I must admit it is amazing place to grow up. The Film Festival is starting and this will be the first time in the 7 years of french living that I miss it. No I never went to one of the screenings, no I was never on one of those private guesty lists for the after parties (not saying I didn't gate crash them though) and no I don't have a yacht. BUT despite that, it's still something one should really see in their lives, the croissette becomes a pedestrian area with tourists and locals enjoying the sun! it's really quite amazing. Seeing as I'm such a movie I always take this opportunity to get informed on the movies that will be coming out in 2012. Last year, Melancholia, left us with our jaws dropped, and this year Kirsten Dunst is back with several other stars with a few movies that I think might open our eyes a bit. Here is my list of awaited films:

Holy Motors

On the Road

The Paperboy

many more ot come fo sure!!

Wishlist....

Reading through my holy bible ( Elle UK) I stumbled upon these little beauties. I must say they seem perfect for this weather we're having. The glasses are Tortoiseshell and the sweater is Markus Lupfer.

Internships!!

Despite the rainy weather we've had thrown upon us today, there's only one topic on my mind: SUMMER. All year round we pack on the loads of things we need to get done between work and school leaving only our imagination of summer to keep us motivated. At least I know that's what I do to get me through the year. I think about places to go, things to do, events that happen then. But depsite the fact that I'm totally excited for the music festivals this summer. There is something even bigger on my mind. INTERNSHIPS. It just so happens that yours truley has lined herself up a few interviews for intern posts with several major places in Paris. CarnetdeMode posted an add in the internet searching for an Assistant to the Fashion Community Manager and I have an interview tomorrow! I couldn't be more excited about this! I would contribute a lot to their blog and help think of new ideas to largen their blog and make become more indepandant! Fingers crossed!!!!!! I also have 2 other interviews lined as an assistant to a photographer and producer but those will likley be next week seeing as they're both at the Film Festival right now...speaking fo that makes me so nostalgic!

Here we go, a few photos of my everyday life what's around me. O and I just moved into a beautiful neighborhood (Invalides) and can't get enough of it! The cute little Boulanger des Invalides, the parks, not to mention we have a great view! The appartment is a work in progress and I'll do a before&after when it's done, but for now enjoy our lovley view!

The Coincidentially Bizarre Events of Last Week...

Folks,
Here's one very important thing you must know about me starting right now, or else you'll think the things I tell you will go a different way, I AM NO MEGAN FOX OR MIRANDA KERR. The total opposit at that, I fall almost 5 times a day, I have a laugh that sounds like a dork, I can't eat without getting at least one stain on my clothes, and I most definitly don't look that good in a bikini. With that said, my luck with boys, is very unlucky. Most of the time all of the things I cited just now happen to me when sufficiently attractive men happen to be in my perimeter.

For example:
Last Wedesnday night, my roomate (O) and I decided to take city bikes to get our pizzas we ordered. Now, us, thinking unlogically, attempted balancing 2 pizzas each whilst pedalling down our street. O was ahead of me when I saw to boys pass by her. I couldn't see their faces from that distance, but what did notice was O turning around as they passed by her which only means one thing through her actions. That they were good looking enough for her to move onto stage 2 of her analysis: the butt check. SO understanding that 2 cute boys were about to walk by, and that I had no make up on, was juggling 2 pizzas on a bike, tired to pull myself together. I can't remember what really happened, but I looked O's direction and all of sudden I found myself sideways on the floor, still on the bike technically with pizzas everywhere. Now, if this was that certain time of the month, I'd of probably started crying, but I just started laughing...I mean honestly, who else but me does this type of stuff happen to? Honestly?! So as the boys walked by giving that "iwanttolaughbutshemightgetpissedoff" look, I just looked up said " I'll be fine!" laughing the whole time.

Don't even aske what happened to the pizzas.

Here We Are...

Soooo, here we are, or at least I am, who know's where you are, at work waiting for lunch break. So I'm going to take this boring day to intorduce myself and the concept of my new blog.
I have a tumblr (link up at the top), but I want to start blogging more about my personal life, meaning, where I live, funny moments I honestly think need to be shared, and other stuff I guess.
So here is the intro: I'm Olivia Gordon, 19 years old. I live in Paris, France, but lived in Cannes since I was 12 (born in Los Angeles). Unfortunatly, you'll hqve to keep coming bqck and reading to see what makes me different from all the other "fashion bloggers" because what more can I say right now except, fashion, movies, and music are the only thing that counts for me...it's jsut what keeps me going I guess...So read on, I'll try and post as often as I can, which shouldn't be a problem right now seing as my job requires no working...
